Ayers Rock - Uluru Touring Itineraries and Ayers Rock Tours

The two tour itineraries have been designed so that you maximize your time. Both morning and afternoon tours start and finish in time for arrivals / departures of most flights.

For your convenience, two sample Itineraries are listed below, based on a one or two night stay.

Sample 1 - One Night Stay at Ayers Rock Resort

This itinerary uses a mixture of available tours just as an example and all tours can be combined in a variety of ways.
 

Kata Tjuta (The Olga's) with sunset at Uluru (Ayers Rock)

Depart early afternoon from Ayers Rock Resort to the many domes of Kata Tjuta (the Olgas) which is a very sacred place to the Aboriginal people. The guide will walk you through Walpa (Olga) Gorge describing the ancient geology and unique flora of this arid environment. Leaving the rocky moonscape of the Olga's a place the Anangu Aboriginal people call Kata Tjuta (Olga's, meaning 'many heads'), travel to Uluru (Ayers Rock) to experience the spectacular change of colour during sunset. On the way to Uluru the tour will stop for a photo opportunity of Uluru before arriving at a secluded viewing area. Enjoy a display of traditional aboriginal tools and weapons followed by complimentary sparkling wine and nibbles while watching the spectacular change of Ayers Rock colour during sunset.

Ayers Rock Sunrise and Base Tour

Enter Uluru-Kata Tjuta (Ayers Rock and The Olga's) National Park and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee with our compliments as you witness the show of colour as the sun's first rays strike Uluru (Ayers Rock).

The tour of Ayers Rock base begins with a guided walk to the waterhole at Mutitjulu, learning about the Aboriginal legends of Kuniya Tjukurpa (Python Dreaming). Continue along the Mala Walk to learn the story of the Mala (Hare Wallaby) people who once lived at Uluru. See painted caves and learn of the region's geology and flora. As you tour the base of Uluru, visit Kantju Gorge, a sacred waterhole and old hunting ground.

Visit the Cultural Centre, dedicated to interpreting Anangu culture and law, as well as helping visitors learn about the cultural value of the region. There's also time to visit Maruku Arts and Craft Cooperative where you may see Aboriginal artists at work.

Sounds of Silence Dinner - Ayers Rock Uluru

The Sounds of Silence dining experience is a definite for all visitors to Ayers Rock. This dinner is a truly unique outback experience and is wrapped into four totally magical hours.

A special location is chosen and guests are escorted shortly before sundown in the desert. A didgeridoo echoes across the magical landscape as diners enjoy their canapés. Witness the spectacular sunset and feast on Northern Territory delights, including barramundi, kangaroo, emus, crocodile, bush salads, and classic Australian deserts. Attention then turns to some of the world’s best star gazing with the assistance of our resident astronomer.

Night Sky Show Ayers Rock Uluru

Let the astronomer take you into our galaxy and beyond. Discover the zodiac constellations and how they move about the heavens. Hear how to find south using the Southern Cross. Marvel at the Milky Way and explore planets and stars using our range of large telescopes. The Night Sky Show is an experience not to be missed. Tour departs from all Ayers Rock resort accommodation with duration of approx 1.15 hours.

Kangaroos, Mt Connor, and Outback Station from Ayers Rock

Mt. Connor, the third of the great monoliths, is 60 miles east of Uluru (Ayers Rock) and on the western fringe of an outback cattle station, Curtain Springs. Following Curtain Springs station's Four Wheel Drive tracks, you will discover vast salt lakes that are remnants of ancient inland oceans, examine fossilized remains of the oldest life forms on earth, and experience Australia's rugged outback.

Travelling around Mt Connor, there is a hidden side with a series of rugged gorges and dams built for the cattle makes for a perfect haven for small populations of Red Kangaroos and Rock Wallabies. 

Before the sunsets we reach the ruins of the first homestead that sits in the shadow of the imposing Mt Connor and watch changing colour in the background and a rusty windmill churning quietly, we toast the sunset with complimentary champagne and wonder how lonely yet splendid it is. Then in the gathering night we drive to Curtin Springs, where in the kitchen built from parts of the old homestead, we enjoy a three-course dinner prepared by the station cook, before returning to Ayers Rock Resort.
