Perth Western Australia Tour

Perth Western Australia (WA) The Golden State

Western Australian is the way Australia used to be and to me the best state in Australia. Wide open spaces, relaxed people, where you can see a million and one stars in the night sky, blue crystal clear warm oceans, colourful fish in the sea, and where finding a secluded place...is easy!

Welcome to Western Australia - a place to see smiling faces, where there is a photogenic spot waiting for you, dive with the world's largest fish, can pat a dolphin from the beach, and walk in the canopy in the ancient forest.

There are geological formations dating back to millions of years, watch the sunset over a rock formations or an ocean, see the stairway to the moon on an ocean, hike and explore into the many gorges. The variety of this state has you being captivated into the never-ending open plains, the stretch of the Nullarbor Highway, or the multi coloured enchantment of the Ningaloo barrier Reef.

Broome in the north, has the attraction that you do not have to have a pearl to notice that the ocean, is one gleaming and priceless. It is also is the gateway to the spectacular photogenic awesome wonderland of the Kimberly region of the outback. The southern towns have the honor of the valley of the giants treetop walk, amongst the ancient forest, excellent surfing and deserted beaches, wine region of the Margaret river - and lodges.

From here through farmland and nature reserves and stop for lunch at Cervantes. Just west of Cervantes you come  to the Namburg National Park where the Pinnacles Desert appears. When they were first discovered by sailors, they where thought to be a long lost ancient city, but as you see they are actually individual unique cemented limestone formations. A chance to drive through, stop for a walk and photograph these unusual formations and if time permits a visit to the stunning Hangover Bay. On the return journey a time for afternoon tea before arriving into Perth.

The Valley of the Giants is a comprehensive boardwalk through a grove of veteran tingle trees known as the Ancient Empire. These forest giants have a base of up to 53 feet in circumference, and grow up to a height of 262 feet makes this tree walk a truly wonder. The lightweight steel trusses walkway is 1378 feet long; highest point is 131 feet and is in a loop distance of 1968 feet. The walkway rises gradually above the forest floor for all walks of life, and give you a chance to explore the canopy of this ancient forest and extends over the red tingle gully.

Broome is the gateway to the Kimberley region at the northern region of Western Australia. It is a tropical region and is more than just a gateway. Cable beach located on the Broome township's coast of the spectacular Indian Ocean and its horizon less beach, the many dinosaur foot prints in the sandstone, the pearl industry, Broome's Chinatown with its pearl shops, and restaurants. The multi natural wonders of the Kimberley, Open blue skies, every night a chance to see Milky Way and to spot the Southern Cross; ocean pearl farm tours, and the wide variety of touring options make this more than just a gateway and a destination.

In the Kimberley region the rocks that are exposed have been dated to a period of over 1,900 million years old! The oldest parts are the Lennard Hills (Western Kimberley), Bow River Hills and the Halls Creek region (Eastern Kimberley) were formed between 1920 and 1790 million years. This region is a geological wonder that really does take you back in time.

The wondrous Kimberley Gorges of sunrise spectacular Windjana, silent wonders of Bells, and scenic cruises of Geike gorges. The landscape features of the upside down shaped beehive Bungle Bungles region is Cathedral Gorge, Echidna Chasm and Frog Hole all offer a different scenery. The multi cascading Mitchell Falls with its stunning Plateau; breath taking and photogenic Ord River, Wolfe Creek Meteor Crater which plunged to earth approx 300 000 years ago. (See what I mean about an extra-ordinary region; On a 14 day tour I took 30 rolls of film! Some of the photos are on this website and the sunset on the home page is one of them.)

On the more north-eastern side of the Kimberley is Kununurra township that was originally built to service the Ord river irrigation scheme and Lake Argyle. This lake is 6 times larger than the Sydney Harbor. Kununurra is where you can discover the Bungle Bungle National Park, for the stunning Ord River Cruise, canoeing, Argyle Diamond mines that produces the 'pink diamond' as this region has some spectacular accommodations and geological scenery.
