Discover The West
MacDonnell Ranges from Alice Springs
This morning enjoy panoramic views of the West MacDonnell Ranges
from Anzac Hill. Before proceeding to the MacDonnell Ranges,
stop at the founder of the Royal Flying Doctor Service grave, the Rev. John
Flynn. Explore the dramatic feature of Simpsons Gap well known for its
elusive rock wallabies and permanent water hole.
Enjoy a short walk along the stony watercourse lined with cycads, ghost
gums, acacias and cypress pines, before arriving at majestic Angkerle
(Standley Chasm).
Walk through this 16 Foot break in the range just before midday as the sun
sets it aglow. Walk through its towering fiery red walls before returning to
enjoy a delicious picnic lunch with traditional Billy tea and coffee boiled
on an open campfire.
On the return trip into town your driver guide will escort you into the
park, and return for you after the raptor show.
