Whale watching tour from Christchurch
The Train option is by train from Christchurch to
Kaikoura then coach Kaikoura to Christchurch on the return.
Travel by road or train from Christchurch through country region
and enjoy the beauty of its rural pastoral scenes, to
Kaikoura where mountains meet sea. Here board the boat,
light aircraft or helicopter for you to see the giant sperm
whales, the acrobatic Dusky Dolphins and other wildlife.
This afternoon you will visit a seal colony where fur
seals may be viewed at close quarters.
On your return to Christchurch a stop will be made at a
North Canterbury vineyard where a wine tasting has been
arranged for your pleasure.

Swim with the Dolphins; Christchurch
This tour accompanies the Akaroa Day tour from
Christchurch. On arriving at Akaroa you will be equipped
with wet suit, mask, snorkel and flippers then cruise on the
Akaroa Harbour sighting dolphins, penguins and seals.
On
locating a pod of Hectors Dolphins you will enter the water
to swim with these rare and endangered mammals. Following
your return to Akaroa village time will be available for
lunch and to explore the many fine craft shops and old
French colonial buildings prior to your return to
Christchurch.

Christchurch to Arthurs Pass and return to Christchurch with Tranz Alpine Train
From Christchurch travel by road to the foothills of the
Southern Alps and here board the Tranz Alpine train to
travel to Arthurs Pass. Board the coach and travel over the
snow-capped Southern Alps in the Arthurs Pass National Park
and on to the Otira Gorge making a photo stop.
Visit the old
village of Otira before returning to Arthurs Pass for lunch
at the Wobbly Kea Restaurant. After lunch explore the
village and some of the many walks. The return journey to
Christchurch is by road stopping for an exhilarating jet
boat ride through the spectacular gorges of the Waimakariri
River. A visit will be made to a farm for late afternoon
tea, followed by a sheep shearing and sheep mustering
demonstration.

Swim with the Dolphins from Kaikoura
The dolphin tours you are sometimes lucky enough to see
other marine mammals such as orca (killer whales), pilot
whales, New Zealand fur seals, and Hector’s dolphins. Things
to bring on the tour are a swimsuit and towel (if swimming),
gear bag, warm clothing and camera. All snorkeling gear and
wetsuits are provided.
