Private Reserves: The two preserves are located on the continental divide of
Costa Rica which separates the Atlantic and Pacific slopes. Both parks offer
spectacular hikes with the opportunity to see the elusive Quetzal. The area is
home to more than 450 orchids, 100 species of mammals, 400 species of birds, 120
species of amphibians, and thousands of plants.

can see San Carlos, Puntarenas, and Guanacaste in the distance on a clear day.

Butterfly Farm –
Monteverde
Tour
For over 10 years the Butterfly Gardens of Monteverde have
introduced people to the beauty and fascination of tropical butterflies. The
gardens were founded by North American biologist Jim Wolfe and his wife Marta
Salazar and consist of a nature center and four gardens (some are in
greenhouses) each representing different local butterfly habitats. Over 40
species of butterflies are raised by the center strictly for educational
purposes (the Monteverde region has some 550 species)

Frog Pond
– Monteverde Tour
The Frog Pond or Ranario located in Monteverde Costa Rica
is a great place to visit at night. This herpetarium with over 20 species of
frogs and other amphibians allows visitors to appreciate the beauty of the areas
amphibians and to learn about their role in the natural world. Some of the
species include the large Marine Toad, the colorful Poison Arrow Frog and the
famous Red Eyed Tree Frog. Frogs and toads are undergoing a massive global
decline. Part of the proceeds from ticket sale goes to conservation and research
efforts. Part of the goal is to educate and inspire others to take an interest
in the conservation of amphibious life and nature in general.

Horseback Riding
– Monteverde Tour
Ride through a typical Costa Rican farm and a private
secondary forest with views of the pacific coast. Banana and coffee plants can
be seen and with luck some interesting birds or monkeys. This tour can also be
taken in the evening for those who would like to enjoy the sunset. Duration is 2
hours. You can also rent horses by the hour to ride on our private trails
outside of Monteverde.
