Kuranda Scenic Train, Daintree Skyrail, and Tjapukai Aboriginal

Transfer from Cairns or Palm Cove to Freshwater Station and here you will meet your hostess for the day that will run through the day’s schedule. Once aboard the Kuranda Scenic train, sit back and enjoy the spectacular views as you journey through 15 hand cut tunnels and past spectacular waterfalls as it slowly winds its way up the hill.

Upon reaching Kuranda you have 1½ hours free time to do some of your own exploring and shopping of Aboriginal wears.

Your hostess will be waiting for you at Skyrail with your tickets and glide silently over the Daintree rainforest canopy as there are two stations enroute where you can alight and enjoy a walk through the rainforest to discover more about the special plants and animals that inhabit this unique environment.

The Daintree Skyrail journey may end and a short distance from the Skyrail Terminal is the Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Park and first stop there is the extravagant buffet lunch.

Afterwards you have ample time to explore all the attractions of Tjapukai – see the stage setting for the Aboriginal Dreamtime, learn to throw a boomerang or spear the Aboriginal way, learn about bush medicine and see the Aboriginal village and of course, the famous Tjapukai Dance Troupe before your return hotel transfer.

The Goldfield Trail World Heritage rainforest.

Leave civilization behind for a 12 mile Goldfield trail follows country that ranges in hiking difficulty from easy flat land to undulating country. The World Heritage Listed Wooroonooran National Park is located in a valley between the two mountains; Mt. Bartle Frere and Mt. Bellenden Ker and is a short drive south of Cairns.

This rainforest contains refuge areas where some species of wildlife and plant life exist unchanged for millions of years. After lunch on some large rocks in the middle of the East Mulgrave River, you can revitalize yourself in the crystal-clear freshwater swimming holes.

The marvellous rainforest locations we visit are remote and we seldom meet other hikers. Frequently encountered animals include colourful parrots, butterflies, kingfishers, wild pigs and occasionally, the king of the rainforest, the Cassowary.
