Where is Tahiti?
Tahiti is located on the same time zone as Hawaii except is south of the equator.
How long is the flight time and do I loose days getting to Tahiti?
The flight is about 8 hours from Los Angeles and flights depart daily. You do not cross the International Dateline from the USA.
What is Tahiti, and is there more than one island?
Tahiti is the largest of the 118 islands and atolls that is spread over 1.5 million square miles of the South Pacific Ocean. Tahiti made up of The Society Islands, which include the capital of Tahiti which is Papeete, and Moorea, Bora Bora, Huahine, Raiatea and Taha’a. The Tuamotus Archipelago consists of Rangiroa, Manihi, Tikehau, and Fakarava. The Marquesas –the mountains islands of Nuku Hiva and Hiva Oa.
What documents are required to travel to Tahiti?
All Americans are required to have a valid passport for a stay up to 1 month and must be valid for a period of no shorter than 6 months after your returned vacation. Please consult the French Consultant for details.
Is English Spoken in Tahiti?
French and Tahitian is the official Languages, but English is spoken at the resorts, hotels and tourist destinations.
Do we need to exchange money?
It is not necessary to exchange US money as the currency is widely available. An approx rate of exchange is USD $1.00 equals XPF 100* (XPF is French Pacific Franc) ATM’s are available but might not recognize foreign cards.

What credit cards are accepted?
Visa, American Express, and MasterCard are more widely accepted at hotels, restaurants, and shops.
What about taxes and tipping?
There is no sales tax in Tahiti. Tipping is not customary, nor expected, but is welcomed for exemplary service.
Do hotel rooms have air conditioning?
Many do; however this varies from hotel to hotel and most of the overwater bungalows are cooled by ceiling fans that draw in the fresh sea breezes.
What is the electrical voltage?
The current is 110 or 220 volts, depending on the hotel and resort. An adapter is recommended for appliances or rechargeable camera battery; so please bring one with you.
Is the water safe to drink?
No, drink bottled water and make sure that the cap is sealed.
Are there restaurants on the islands?
Yes, on the major islands, but if you go to the Tuamotus and Marquesas then the options are very limited. There are also supermarkets, and some restaurants will pick-up and drop-off.
What are the activities?
Snorkeling, scuba diving, four-wheel driving safaris, shark & ray feeding, bike riding, water sports, island tours, helicopter rides, various cultural tours, and most resorts offer complimentary snorkeling equipment.
How do we get around the islands?
Taxis, buses or (Le Truck an open air bus), and car rentals are available. On Bora Bora there are the hotel boats and the taxi boat for hotels located on the motus (smaller outer islands).
What should I pack and what dress attire is worn?
Light weight washable clothes as synthetics tend to get sticky; shorts, tee shirts, plastic sandals, insect repellent, sunscreen location 30+, cap or wide brimmed hat, camera, or disposable camera and perhaps and underwater disposable camera are good to bring. A flashlight is also good, for a midnight romantic stroll.
For dinner smart casual is acceptable.

Yes you can get married but at the moment is not legal in the unless the bride or groom resides in
Tahiti
